The Allergenix technology
Allergenix offers its services to companies involved in drug
development, both in the discovery and preclinical trial phases. Allergenix's team of experienced scientists have extensive expertise in large
animal immunology, pathology and physiology, and work closely with Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical companies
Technical capabilities include:
Sheep models of inflammatory diseases
Allergenix can test for
drug efficacy and pharmacology in standard models of systemic sepsis and acute
lung injury (LPS- or elastase-induced), and allergic inflammation.
Allergenix has acquired intellectual property in relation to sheep allergy
and asthma models, based on sensitization with major human allergens,
including:
- -
A standardized and reproducible sensitization protocol with human
allergens.
- -
A mammary infusion model for the detailed study of allergic inflammation
- -
Low stress, physiologically relevant acute and chronic models of
allergic asthma.
Immunology
- Measurement of peripheral and
local antibody responses by ELISA (IgG1, IgG2, IgA, IgM, IgE)
- Identification of cells in
blood, BAL fluids and lung tissues by flow cytometry and immunohistology
- Measurement of a wide range of
cytokines in peripheral blood, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluids and tissues
using ELISA and qRT-PCR.
Pathology
- Evaluation of lung lavage and
lung histopathology
- Identification of inflammatory
cells
- Measurement of changes in lung
morphometry
Pulmonary
physiology
- Measurement of airway
resistance
- Measurement of specific and
non-specific airway hyperreactivity
